A BIT ABOUT THE DIVING
Barra Dive Resort is located on Mozambique's Manta Coast . The Lodge is nestled among palm trees a few steps away from the warmIndian Ocean . Apart from the friendly Mozambique people and breath–taking scenery, the region is fast becoming world famous for the spectacular diving. Manta Rays, Whale sharks, Humpback Whales, sometimes seen all on the same dive! The diving here in Mozambique compares with some of the best in the world and is still a relatively well-kept secret. The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are teeming with life and the reefs are pristine. We have over 1000 species of fish as well as manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins, turtles, migrating Humpback whales and the mythical dugong. The list is endless, the colours of the pristine reefs, beyond description and we are still discovering uncharted reefs.
We have a variety of different reef systems that you can explore while diving with us with depths ranging from 8 metres to 40 metres. Our two house reefs are minutes away by boat and are fantastic for those long slow dives spent looking for Paperfish, Pereclemini and Harlequin shrimp.
We also have Salon, where you can observe the weird, and unique to this reef, behaviour of the Trumpetfish. A Macro photographers dream this one, with resident Ghost and Red Scribbled pipefish, juvenile Frogfish and the several species of shrimp that give this site its name. Among the choice of over 17 different sites available to you, we have the world famous Manta Reef, Office, Giants Castle and Amazon. These sites all have their own Manta cleaning stations, so encounters with these beautiful creatures are almost guaranteed. We have Leopard Sharks, Reef Sharks, and the haunting song of the Humpback whales when they are here in winter is an awesome accompaniment to awesome dives. However, some people find that the real pleasure in diving with us is that the sites are so untouched and pristine. It is on very rare occasions that you will have to share a reef with other divers.
